Aside from Tomorrowland and Electric Daisy Carnival, the Ultra Music Festival (UMF) has established itself as one of the biggest and best EDM festivals in the world.
It might have experienced financial losses during its first year back in 1999, but the explosion of EDM has made Ultra a household name for dance music fans, with UMF getting international editions in recent years.
Of course, one of the best things about UMF is its exquisitely designed stages, each with their own unique purpose. Let’s check them out!
1. STAGE 7
This is obviously the UMF stage that is quite unknown and with not much hype surrounding it. However, all you have to do is know your artists to enjoy your stay at Stage 7. For example, hearing Icey, Kennedy Jones, Botnek, and Joachim Miller there will definitely be worth it.
2. RESISTANCE STAGE
The Resistance Stage has many fans not just because of the music it offers, but also because of the stage design. Ultra Music Festival 2016 once again worked with Arcadia for the Resistance Stage’s “Arcadia Spider” design. It’s basically a freaky, 360-degree stage that has leg extensions to reach the ravers.
This stage received so many good responses that the UMF organizers decided to have a standalone Resistance Festival that will be headlined by Carl Cox and will take place at Explanada Costa Verde.
3. UMF RADIO STAGE
The UMF Radio Stage might not have a gorgeous stage as the Resistance Stage, but it still has many ravers because of the sheer talent of its DJ lineup, ranging from Bassjackers to Dannic, Tom Swoon, Mija, Autoerotique, and Ookay.
4. WORLDWIDE STAGE
One of the most highly anticipated stages in Ultra is the Worldwide Stage. This year, the venue was graced by the ever lovable Marshmello, Vicetone, the groovy Don Diablo, Laidback Luke, Cedric Gervais, “Closer” and “Roses” hitmakers The Chainsmokers, Alison Wonderland, and trap music makers Yellow Claw. Whether you want dubstep or future house, you should go to this stage.
5. THE MEGASTRUCTURE
Just take a good look at this gorgeous Mega Structure Stage. It’s definitely something new, and what’s even better is the fact that those things above can move. Moreover, the LED display can visually create 3D animation and other effects according to whatever music is being played.
6. LIVE STAGE
The live stage actually serves as the band stage for Ultra. Artists like Clean Bandit that use live instruments show up here. The 2016 Live Stage lineup included Miike Snow, Chet Faker, Caribou, Tycho, The Prodigy, Canadian experimental duo Crystal Castles, Icona Pop, and Purity Ring.
7. UMF MAINSTAGE
Last but definitely not least, the UMF Mainstage is what almost every looks forward to. This is where the most massive explosions, lasers, and crowds gather to create a truly electrifying EDM experience. Whether you want to hear Zedd, Galantis, David Guetta, Pendulum, Carnage, Dyro, W&W, Avicii, Hardwell, Kygo, Armin van Buuren, DJ Snake, or Martin Garrix, the UMF Mainstage can definitely compete with what Tomorrowland has to offer.
