Once you’ve secured your ticket to Tomorrowland, Ultra Music Festival, or Electric Daisy Carnival, you need to look like you’re ready to dance from day to night. As you might have already noticed, the rave culture has its own style when it comes to clothing, and you should definitely try them out!
1. NEON CLOTHING
This is what will make you look like a raver the most. It’s easy to see and it creates good vibes around you. These neon clothing for ravers are light, comfortable, and the colors are displayed greatly under UV light.
If everyone wore a neon rave shirt or tank top at a party or festival, the darkness and the colors will produce a magical and otherworldly environment.
2. KANDI BRACELETS
At first look, you might be thinking how silly they are, but the PLUR culture is related to these wonderful bracelets. These plastic jewelry are commonly seen at raves and they evoke a bizarre and lively feeling. Back then, these were apparently worn by drug dealers so that they could be easily noticed by potential buyers.
Some of these “rave beads” can have words, but all in all, Kandi bracelets offer individuality aside from a connection to your fellow ravers. Typically, one would make a peace sign, then a heart sign, before sliding the bracelets from hand to hand and hugging the other raver.
3. GLOW STICKS
These can be quite useless when a DJ set is done during the daytime, but using these glow sticks with a massive crowd in a dark venue can intensify the whole experience. Sometimes, a DJ wants the crowd to wave or raise their hands, and doing these with glow sticks instead is quite enjoyable.
4. RAVE BANDANAS
If you’ve ever been to an EDM festival or you’ve seen an aftermovie, you can sometimes spot someone with a vibrant cape on their back or a piece of colorful cloth covering their faces. Well, these can be referred to as “rave bandanas” and they immediately give you that raver look, aside from protecting you from hot weather or if the venue is windy.
If you are going to an EDM festival and you plan to dance all day, be prepared to face the sun and the blinding lasers. After all, how can you enjoy a set by Skrillex or by Martin Garrix if you keep closing your eyes because everything is too vibrant for you?
Likewise, do not bring expensive glasses because they could just get broken, or worse, stolen. Choose affordable ones instead that you won’t mind wearing for a day or two at the festival.
6. RAVE GLOVES
You’ve likely seen glovers at EDM festivals. They do their mesmerizing hand movements, while their viewer wears sunglasses to emphasize the effect. Well, you should also get a pair of rave gloves so you can do your own strobe effects and impress your friends at the same time.
7. RAVE GLASSES
These differ from your typical sunglasses because they are meant to enhance your viewing experience at EDM festivals. Because of its specialized design, the lasers and lights coming from the stage will turn into mesmerizing patterns, as if you have a kaleidoscope. You can truly achieve euphoria with these glasses on.
8. RAVE FLUFFIES/FURRY LEG WARMERS
If you need a little bit of warmth around your legs and you want to look colorful at the same time, try wearing rave fluffies. Women love to wear these at raves because of their retro vibes and the comfort they bring. Some might think you look silly, but it’s all about having crazy fun at EDM festivals anyway.
9. RAVE FISHNETS/STOCKINGS
Women who want to look sexier than usual at EDM festivals can try rave fishnets or stockings. You don’t have to act sensual while wearing this, because it’s still all about the PLUR culture. These rave fishnets simply allow women to wear something light that still gives them a fantastic appearance.
10. RAVE SHOES
LED sneakers, such as these superb gold neon kicks, are for anyone and everyone who loves to rave and shuffle for hours on end. With the many lighting patterns and colors offered, you simply have to charge these for a couple of hours before you light up the night with your awesome dancing skills.
